The SX4 is Winchester's semi-automatic hunting shotgun. This 12 gauge has a 28-inch chrome-lined barrel with a 3.5-inch chamber, an aluminum-alloy receiver that holds the weight to about 7 pounds, and a black synthetic stock with a 14.25-inch length of pull. Overall length is 49 inches and it carries 4+1. The barrel takes Winchester's Invector-Plus flush chokes, a bead sight sits at the muzzle, the exterior is non-glare, and the controls are oversized so they work with gloves on.

A 3.5-inch 12 gauge with a 28-inch barrel is a do-everything hunting gun: waterfowl and turkey with the heavy magnum loads the long chamber allows, upland birds with lighter field loads, and slugs or buckshot for deer where a state or zone restricts hunters to shotguns. The choke system lets the pattern be tightened or opened for each of those, and the synthetic stock and dull finish suit wet blinds and early mornings.
